USAGE TERMS

Basic Terms:

Minor Release

  • Rights to use samples in your own songs, beats, and productions etc.
  • Royalty-free upon purchase unless your release is considered a Major Release
  • If your song hits 1M+ streams across Spotify, Apple, YouTube etc. → it becomes a Major Release and you’ll need clearance.
  • Please credit  Causmic or Causmic Music Library as co-producer in liner notes & metadata.

Major Release

  • Distributed or released via a Major Label, Large Indie Label, or sync licensing 
  • 1,000,000 + Streams Across Spotify, Apple, YouTube etc.
  • Must contact for sample clearance.
  • 50/50 split on publishing, advances, and royalties (negotiable, fair, hassle free)
  • Credit Causmic / Causmic Music Library as co-producer in liner notes & metadata.

🚫 What You Can’t Do

  • Sell, share, or redistribute the raw samples by themselves.
  • Repackage samples into new sample kits or libraries.
  • Use them in a way that directly competes with Causmic Music Library.
  • Transfer or give the raw samples to others outside of a finished song/beat.
  • Upload content using our samples with Content ID to avoid potential claims without pre approval.

Full Terms:

In exchange for your payment of the license fee ("License Fee") associated with the applicable sound and/or sample provided in this website (each, a "Sample"), we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual right to use the Sample in combination with other sounds in music productions to create new recordings ("Recording(s)"), which shall be considered "derivative works" as that term is used in the United States Copyright Act. 

This license permits you to modify, reproduce, publicly perform, distribute, transmit, sublicense and otherwise use the Sample as incorporated in your Recording, including for commercial purposes, subject to the following restrictions:

a) You may not use or sublicense the Sample in isolation as sound effects, loops, or as source material for any other form of sample (even if you modify the Sample). Providing stems for your new beat is generally ok;

b) You may not use or sublicense Samples in a manner competitive to us or redistribute Samples in new sample packs;

c) You may not sublicense, sell, loan, share, lend, broadcast, rent, lease, assign, distribute, or transfer any Sample to a third party except as incorporated into a Recording;

In addition, with respect to commercial usage of Recordings containing Samples, the following shall apply:

1) Minor Releases: You may use the Sample for Recordings on your own personal projects, independent releases, beat tapes, beatstore, and mix tapes that are not distributed or released via a "Major Label" or "Large Indie Label" (each such release, a "Minor Release") at no additional cost outside of the License Fee (including, for the avoidance of doubt, without providing us with publishing splits).  If you did not pay a license fee to obtain our samples (purchased a kit or Patreon membership), please contact me to provide splits of sales, or add me as a collaborator on Beatstars (50/50 split).  Please provide co-productions credits to Causmic or Causmic Music Library. In the event that any Recording exceeds One Million (1,000,000) streams across Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube. etc, it shall be considered a Major Release and you shall be required to immediately obtain formal clearance of the Sample for use in the Recording.

2) Major Releases: For Recordings to be distributed or released via a Major Label, Large Indie Label, or sync licensing opportunities you shall be required to: (a) contact us promptly to obtain a formal clearance for use of the sample on a Major Release (hassle free, fair clearance, negotiable); (b) provide for a 50/50 split of any advances, producer royalty and publishing, including for the avoidance of doubt, in relation to any so-called 'synch licenses'; and (c) ensure that the Sample owner is credited as a co-producer in connection with all commercial exploitations of the Recording(s) on the liner notes of any singles or albums (in any configuration) embodied the Recording(s), including meta-data where applicable, as well as any advertisements in connection with the Recording(s). 


d) “Major Record Label” shall mean a record label or company: (i) which is a parent or subsidiary of, and/or is affiliated with (i.e., shares common ownership with), one of the “major” distributors in the United States (which distributors are presently Sony, Universal and the Warner Music Group/WEA), (ii) which is a parent or subsidiary of, and/or is affiliated with, one of the so-called “indie” distributors which provide national distribution (which “indie” distributors presently include, without limitation, Ryko, Caroline, InGrooves, The Orchard, Rounder, Kobalt/AWAL, BMG, ADA and E1), and/or (iii) whose records are distributed by any such “major” or “indie” record label, company or distributor including without limitation, Company’s own record label. 


e) “Qualifying Independent Label” shall mean any record label or company not included in the definition of Major Record Label as provided in paragraph 1(d) above which has distributed any album and/or master which has exceeded an aggregate of One Hundred Thousand (100,000) streams on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube in any given calendar month, or greater than an aggregate of One Million (1,000,000) streams on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube in total.
